Where It Started
TONES started on a job site in Toronto.
Our founder spent years working as a General Contractor navigating high-decibel environments — heavy machinery, power tools, urban construction. The hearing protection available was either disposable foam that hurt after an hour or bulky industrial gear that made you look like you were defusing a bomb.
Nothing fit well. Nothing looked good. And nothing matched his skin.
That frustration became the brief. He wanted an earplug that worked without announcing itself — something that disappeared into your skin instead of sitting on top of it. After enough time sourcing materials and testing formulas, TONES was the result.
What We Built
We make moldable silicone wax earplugs in three skin-matched shades: Ivory, Honey, and Sienna.
The formula is simple. Warm the wax in your hands, press it over your ear canal, and it creates a flush surface seal — no internal pressure, no plastic loops, nothing sticking out. At 32dB of noise reduction, they block what needs blocking without cutting you off completely.
We designed them for the people who actually wear earplugs: side sleepers who can't use foam, commuters who don't want to look like they're on a construction site, and anyone who finds the world a bit too loud on a regular basis.
Where We Are Now
We're a small team based in Toronto. We're not a billion-dollar brand. We're a focused product company that cares about getting one thing right — a better earplug for people who've settled for bad ones long enough.
Our community has grown across Canada and into the US, and we're continuing to expand our shade range and product line based on what our customers are actually asking for.
What's Next
We're working on new formats and expanding the Tones product family. If you've been wearing foam earplugs because you didn't know there was a better option — this is it.
Your ears deserve better gear.
